ONE DAY WORKSHOP ON “SOFT SKILL & PLACEMENT TRAINING PROGRAMME” 27.02.2009 |
NSS Cell, Anna University jointly with Aalim Muhammed Salegh College Organized a one day Workshop on “SOFT SKILL & PLACEMENT TRAINING” for Rural Engineering College Students. In this Workshop, about 135 third & final years students participated from Ten Engineering Colleges around our College.
Inauguration of this training started with welcome address by our Principal DR. M. MURALI KRISHNA, DR. SELLADURAI, Coordinator, NSS Cell, Anna University delivered special address followed by this, our Secretary JANAB. S. SEGU JAMALUDEEN delivered key note address.
Mr. Narasiman Parthasarthy, Senior Consultant CTS talked about current Industrial Scenario, followed by this, the first session of Soft Skill Development Training was given by Mr. Samuel Sathish, Principal Consultant, Eye Opener Training & Consulting, Chennai.
After lunch, the second session of this Soft Skill Training was continued by Mr. Samuel Sathish. In valedictory function Dr. T.M.J. Indra Mohan, Head, HRD, Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering delivered felicitation address. Our College NSS Programme Officer Mr. T. Mohamed Ali gave vote of thanks on behalf of NSS Cell, Anna University, Chennai & our College NSS Unit. The NSS Cell, Anna University issued Training Certificates for all the participants. |

National Service scheme |
Our College NSS unit was inaugurated on 21st September 2001. Mr. T. Mohamed Ali, lecturer in physics, has been appointed as NSS programme officer in the year 2004. He obtained his B.Sc Degree in the year 1994 and M .sc degree in physics in the year 1996 both with first class from Jamal Mohammed College, Trichy which is affiliated to Bharathidasan University; he was awarded his M. Phil degree in physics with first class in 1998 by AVVM Sri Pushpam College, poondi, Tanjore district affiliated to Bharathidasan University. His dissertation for M. Phil degree was on phonon conductivity of AgCl. He has organized three NSS special camps during his tenure. He has also conducted several other NSS activities within and outside the college campus for the past three years. He has more than 9 years of experience in teaching. He is also a NCC ‘B’ certificate holder.

Report on NSS Activties |
National service scheme unit was launched in our college in the year 2004 with aim of imparting service to the rural community. The motto of NSS is ‘NOT ME BUT YOU’ Every year firty first year students and fifty second year students of B.E/B. Tech are enrolled as NSS volunteers. Our volunteers render their service to the community through regular activity and special camping.

Regular Activity |
- Independence day was celebrated at our college campus on 15th August 2007 our volunteers actively participated in the celebration
- About twenty volunteers participated in NSS Award function conducted by NSS cell, Anna University on 24.09.07.
- Our N S S Unit conducted essay and painting competitions on 24.11.07. And 27.11.07 during the communal Harmony campaign week observed by our college.
- About 15 volunteers participated in various competitions conducted by the NSS unit of Hindustan College of engineering & Technology and NSS cell of Anna University Chennai on 31.11.2007.
- Republic Day was celebrated at our campus on 26th January 2008. Our NSS volunteers actively took part in the celebrations.
- Our NSS volunteers participated in world water Day programme hosted by Institute of Sustainable Development on 22.03.2008 at Hindu college, pattarbiram.
- Apart from the above-said activities, our NSS volunteers have been helping the public to maintain road traffic discipline during peak hours, which is a daily activity.

Special camp-2008 |
A ten-day special camp was conducted from 26.02.08 to 06.03.08 at Aalathur village. Our volunteers of II year B.E/B. Tech actively participated in the camp and rendered service to village community.

The inauguration of this camp started with a welcome address by our college principal Prof .Dr.M. MURALI KRISHNA. Wing Cdr. P.S.VASUKI Officer commanding, ASV 18 Tettra School, Indian Air Force delivered the inagural address. The Chief guest, in his inaugural address, stressed about motto and objectives of National Service Scheme and the needs of social service to rural community.

On the second day (27.02.08) of the camp, the clean and green environment Awareness programme was conducted. Our college lecturer Mr. S.SHAJAHAN, delivered a lecture on the above mentioned programme our volunteers conveyed the message to the rural villagers.

Mr.RAJAMONISUSILAN, public Health Engineer from Institute of Public Health delivered a lecture on total sanitation awareness to volunteers, school children and villagers on 28.02.08, the third day of the camp.

On Friday 29.02.08 a first aid programme was arranged for volunteers and high school student’s palvedu village. Mrs. SAIPRIYA, Assistant professor, Aalim muhammed Salegh College of physiotherapy delivered a lecture and demonstrated about various first aid methods in different situations.

Dr.KALYANI KENNATH, professor P.G. Department of counseling and carrer guidance delivered the lecture on Anger Management on 01.03.08.(Day 5). In this programme our volunteers, school students and village youths actively participated and volunteers performed a skit.

On Sunday (02.03.08) free eye checkup and cataract surgery camp was organized with help of SANKARA EYE HOSPITAL, pammal. About ninety (90) poor rural people got free treatment, medicine and counseling. Eleven villagers were screened for cataract surgery and treated with laser surgery.

On 03.03.08 and 04.03.08 our volunteers actively involved in repairing, cleaning and white washing works at Government elementary school and other public places of village.

On Wednesday (05.03.08), sports and cultural programme was conducted for the elementary school students and our volunteers actively participated and helped to celebrate Annual Day function of the school.

Apart from this, our volunteers organized the career guidance to the higher secondary school students of the adopted village, computer training to the villagers during the camp.
|
The valedictory function of this special camp was conducted on 07.03.08 Thursday. Our programme officer, Mr. T. MOHAMED ALL delivered the camp report. The chief guest of the day smt. R.PUSHPALATHA Manager of Punjab National Bank, our principal and village president distributed prizes for village children. The chief guest delivered the valedictory address.

YOUTH RED CROSS |
Mr. shajahan is the programme officer of the unit since 2004.He belongs to the Department of civil engineering. He graduated B.E. in civil engineering in first class from Madurai kamaraj University, Madurai in the year 1999. His under-graduation was in Mohamed Sathak Engineering College, Kilakkarai. During the course, he had inplant training at Tuticorin Port Trust, one of the premier ports of India. He got training in construction of breakwaters and berths.

He has secured 82.73 Percentile in GATE2003. Presently, he is pursuing M.E. in Environmental Management at Centre for Environmental Studies, Anna University. He had attended various training programmes under youth red cross. He is taking effort to bring the unit to a magnificient level. His area of interest is Sustainable Development which is a premier goal of the United Nations; Sustainable Development includes three main spheres-Economy, Environment and Society.

YOUTH RED CROSS - Unit profile |
Youth Red Cross (YRC) is the youngest avenue under personality and character Development programme. It is the most important constituent of its mother organization Indian Red Cross.

The YRC movement is based on the following three principles.
|
- Protection of health and life
- Service to the sick and suffering
- Promotion of national and international friendship to develop the mental and moral capacities of the youth.

The unit consists of strength on par with other avenues, NSS and NSO.

Activities in the recent months (January 2008-March 2008) |
- Nine volunteers of second year participated ‘Vivega 2008’ which was held at Easwari Engineering College as a part of National Youth Day celebrations.
- A painting competition was conducted for I, II and III year volunteers on 1February, 2008.
- Participants of the painting competition were offered a visit to the painting exhibition by orphan children of Good Life Centre, a home for orphans and mentally challenged.
- 41 volunteers of final year B.E.(CSE,EEE,ECE) student volunteers engaged themselves in guiding and helping out patients at Government Stanley Hospital and Government Ophthalmic Hospital for 13 days in the months of February and March, 2008. This service enabled them to understand the social problem better.

Parent Teacher Meet |
We conduct regular parent teachers meetings to have a strong bridge of communications between the Teachers and parents for the effective monitoring of the progress of academic activities of the students. The staff advisor system is functioning successfully in our college. We are also conducting classes for slow learners in ouder to achieve best results.
